San Francisco & Maui

A trip across two oceans

San Francisco

Random scenes from the city

A touch of Japan

A stroll through Japantown in the morning, and an afternoon visit to the Japanese Tea Garden at the Golden Gate Park.

Chinatown

City icons

Fishermans Wharf

Let's be clear, it's worth visiting just to catch the sea lions basking in the sun at Pier 39.

Painted Ladies

One set is slightly more famous than the other.

Which ones do you prefer?

That Big Red Bridge

Golden something something... Would it be a trip to San Francisco without paying a visit to this iconic bridge? Here it is in all its glory.

Maui, Hawaii

Got beaches

Of course. It's Hawaii after all, what did you expect?

Enchanted forest

On the road in Northern Maui near Honolua Bay, you might suddenly stumble into this lush, dreamy forest and be instantly transported to a different dimension.

More Northern Maui sights

Less popular than the famous Road to Hana, the drive around Northern Maui is equally tortuous and offers many great sights.

Haleakalā National Park

The one hour and a half drive to get to the summit at 3055m above sea level is totally worth it. Watching the sunset from above the clouds is priceless.

Molokini

A snorkeling boat trip to the Molokini crater and Turtle Town. Didn't see any turtles though.

Garden of Eden

A mandatory stop on the Road to Hana, a really nice arboretum with a great variety of plants, birds, and views.

Road to Hana sights

More scenes from the road trip. It's hard to resist the urge to stop at every turn.

Paia

A nice little hippy town with many restaurant and shops. An obligatory stop when going to Hana (or on your way back).

Geckos

These colorful little ones are everywhere on the island and they are just adorable, aren't they?

Gold Dust Day Geckos

The elusive Green Sea Turtle

It took one last lucky snorkeling session in Makena Landing to finally get to meet this majestic creature from up close. They are big and beautiful.

One more thing

Leaving was not easy, but one last surprise on the plane made it a little less bitter and definitely more sweet.

Aurora borealis over Northern Canada, long exposure from the plane on the way back to Europe
